    F'yo c-836's

I had a sudden urge to make some type of bow today, looked at my NF and this what i came up with.

    Materials

    Nite finder (hurr derr)
    15mm PVC
    15mm PVC T coupler
    Some type of bow string
    Super glue

    Tools:
    dremel
    drill
    Hacksaw (if you want)

Take you NF apart and cut the barrel of the plunger tube like so..
    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0010

Dremel out the AR's and make enough room for 15mm PVC to sit into it nicely

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0011
    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0012

Dremel out your T coupler so the 15mm PVC will slide right through it,

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0013

Slide the PVC through it, glue it in and cut it off. Making a + coupler

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0014

Glue your + coupler into the NF plunger...

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0015

Minimize your NF shell to fit the new set up, put it back together. Add 15mm PVC bow arms, the length of the bow arms I used are 26cm's (but they can be smaller)

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0016

Drill some holes at the end of the bow arms and plunger rod handle, to accommodate the bow string. And your done!!! =D (looks bad ass IMO)

    Nitebow - springless NF Pict0017

    Optional mods (for optimal performance):

    Extra O'ring
    Better catch spring

Haven't done them yet, Although it feels like its hitting the same as the average overhauled NF.

    Good write up.

Now, I foresee 3 possible things going wrong:

1: The string gets cut on the ends of the bow arms because it is a sharpish edge.
What you might want to look at is gluing some rubber, plastic, anything with a nice, curved surface onto the bow arms where the string sits to stop that.

2: The bow arms kink or snap as PVC pipe is not meant to be used like that, but with the lengths of pipe you have there, I do not think it is likely to happen, maybe if the draw distance was longer.

3: Through rough and heavy use, the bow arms come out of the sockets.

I do like the idea! It reminds me of a Nerf Crossbow! Defs should bring it to the war so we can have a looksy.

Good spotting, but little improvements can fix all that.

1: vinyl tubing will be going over the bow string, in high friction areas

2: hence the size of the bow arms, but they could go smaller with out any harm. At the moment there's barely any stress on them.

    3:PVC cement can fix that!

Great Mod! I think that a few people with nightfinder shells sitting around will give this mod a go! I know I will probably give it a go! Again great mod.

There's one thing I do reckon is that the pipe should be pre-flexed so it looks like a bow. Although that may snap the coupler as I've experienced.

This is an extremely innovative idea. I think these sorts of mods are real mods, not just taking out the air restrictors. What dd you us for the bow string? I will be making one asap. That adds to my nightfinder wishlist: One for this, two for a manta and another two for a gooni style homemade nightfinder:D
