    Scout  IX-3 Empty Scout IX-3

    Post  redsaber5859 Sun Nov 28, 2010 12:39 am

    This is my first Nerf Review, sorry for any n00bness!

    Scout  IX-3 Scout
    Scout IX-3

    ::OVERVIEW::
    The Scout IX-3 is a pistol-shaped Nerf blaster that is only available in bundles such as the Unity Power System, and the Tech Target V3. This makes it very rare among general Nerfers, and, along with the Tech Target gun, are among the most unlisted Nerf blasters out there! I have seen it on only two sites... Its colour scheme is either Red/Grey or Blue/Green.

    ::R.O.F.::

    The rate of fire is quite slow as it is fully manual, unlike the Magstrike or Vulcan. I can get in around 2 darts per 5 seconds, this may be better if you can load and shoot faster.

    ::RANGE::
    The range is what makes this my favorite blaster, stock gets about 40 feet (13 Meters)! When modded, AR's removed and AOS (annoying orange stick) removed, it gets 60 feet (20 meters)! At least, that is what mine achieves 90% of the time.

    ::AMMUNITION::

    This is basic, the 3-darts, most of the small Nerf guns (such as the switch-shot or Tech Target) contain only 3. I have modded it a bit to hold two darts at the bottom too, giving it a 5-dart capacity. It comes with (Don't know about Tech Target V3, only UPS.) 9 whistling darts. 6 however, are used for the Hornet, leaving only 3 for the Scout.

    ::MODS::
    Mods, oh lord, mods. I have drilled holes for extra ammunition, removed AR's and the AOS. Done the nickel mod behind the spring, and replaced with a much stronger one. You can also add some lights, repaint it, etc..

    ::Final Words::

    This blaster, though rare, and low on ammo, is a very high-powered pistol-like blaster. I recommend this if you ever see a UPS or Tech Target V3 for sale, as this blaster will not disappoint.

    If you're wondering what I consider the different Tech Targets, it goes like this:
    V1-Tech Target Blaster
    V2-Mini Blasters (or whatever they're called)
    V3-Scout

    Thanks for reading my review, all flames/praises/recommendations/etc. below :3

    Although it's an inverse plunger, it pretty much works like a direct plunger as once the gun is fired it closes up all the dead space in the barrel anyway. That's probably why it gets some decent ranges. Won't see anything any more than 60ft though because the plunger volume is too small.

    It's an excellent LSWO and decent all round weapon.

    Dart holders can be a bit loose though, so running can mean the darts'll fall out.

    Either way, it's just fun to play it.

    They are only available in Australia with the unity system packs.

    Better alternatives for this blaster are;
    -Nitefinder
    -Stormfire (capture the flag gun)
    -Element ex3

    or if you want a better rate of fire;
    -maverick
    -spectre (not available in Aus, yet)
    -one of the buzzbee ones (not reccomended as they're quite shite)
