I wouldn't mind obtaining a couple of those to tinker with.
Modding seems extremely limited, but I have considered in the past, that I'd use them as base parts and bash them into another shell or homemade frame.
However, one must consider their own grip strength, when a spring replacement is used.
Then again, it could become a 2-in-1 training device: a hand gripper (train for crushing grip) + hand-eye co-ordination (aiming).
I wonder what gym junkies would think about that...

You'd need a pretty big spring, but quite a handy concept!!!

Any idea where to get these? SGNerf did a review on these awhile ago but didn't mention where he got them from.

He found them in a corner store, just a random small independent store, there was no supplier. But after a few months of searching for them I eventually found the supplier.

I'm negotiating a small stock order with the supplier. I really don't want to buy a container of these things that's all

well.. if informer says 20-25 feet.. that's decent, you just gotta utilize it in CQB where RoF is more important.
I'd like some.. maybe along with my next purchase of darts

At least 4 for me.
A belt of these + dual wield + New York reload for giggles.
New York reload:
Whip out the backup handgun, when the first one is empty, rather than fumbling around to reload, especially with revolvers.
Some folks will often carry a third handgun for this.

I've seen these reviewed before they are a very cool idea. Similar to alot of the toy BB guns and disk shooters I had as a kid.
It would make a good finger strengthener for guitarists. You could possibly use some kind of gearing to repliate this idea in another shell but with a stronger mechanical advantage. I don't think you would be able to make a pistol with this system that breaks 50ft though.

The concept behind the blaster is a neat one, but the way I see it gearing as a force multiplier will shorten the plunger travel, as with any system where you trade distance or speed for force or torque. Too small a plunger volume will evidently make the ranges suffer.
There's probably a happy balance somewhere in there, but where it is might be hard to find out. Whether that balance will provide an acceptable range is also another problem.

I was going to say that, and no, its probably to thin.
Edit: if it worked, it would be great to practise crushing people's hands.
