SUGGESTIONS WANTED: Removable Bolt Handle Empty SUGGESTIONS WANTED: Removable Bolt Handle

Post  cray- Tue Nov 02, 2010 8:30 am

So in order to mod my Longstrike (so much better now) I had to jimmy off one end of the bolt handle and in doing so, damaged the plastic so that it keeps falling off. The plastic teeth that hold the metal shaft in place have been chipped and plastic has been stressed.

SUGGESTIONS WANTED: Removable Bolt Handle 6zuf10

Just wondering if anyone has come up with a way to modify these parts to make them secure enough for use but capable of being removed for further modding? I'm worried that if I use any kind of glue or whatnot, it's going to go on once and not come back off.

Suggestions? Links? Anything? My google-fu has failed me on this one.

Make the metal bar thicker. You could wrap E-tape around it AFTER putting it through you LS.

    so steps:

1: Take bolt and hangles out
2: put the metal bolt through the LS.
3: warp E-tape around the end with the crappy bolt handle (or both)
4: wedge bolt hangle back on.

so by making the bar thicker its a tighter fit on the bolt hangle. Note: you would probably have to replace the tape each time after taking the handle off. Also i havent tryed this i just though of it lol. so make sure if you try it you tell me how it goes.

quick idea that pops to mind except your probably going to need to use a drill press and a tap set

drill a hole thought the handle and rod, tap a thread into the rod and find a small screw to hold it on it might work if you drill the rod out and make the screw long enough

I had trouble with my longshot bolt, essentially the same thing. I wanted it to come off but I wanted it to be strong enough to stay on when cocking.

The solution was to put e-tape around the four plastic sections that you circled. I didn't put a lot of tape on but it was an effective method to secure the bolt. The flexibility of the e-tape means that it can be taken off and put back on with a little effort. The tape will eventually need to be replaced but for now it's holding strong.

    Hope that helps.
