Reflex Sight ARRIVED Empty Reflex Sight ARRIVED

Post  Synergie Mon Apr 18, 2011 6:39 am

Reflex Sight/Red Dot Sight, whatever you prefer to call it, I ordered one from DealExtreme HERE, I ordered and paid for it on Tuesday, the 5th of April and arrived today, Monday the 18th, not bad as I took their Free Air Mail option over another $20 for Express post.

The Photos, taken with my HTC Desire HD (not bad Image quality I thought).

don't let the dot position fool you, when aiming down an RDS,
you need to look at it straight on and the dot positions in the centre

The Stampede, to the keen few, you'll notice a 9KG spring, a 4xAA Battery Sled and my Flashlight attachment, using Duct tape, later this week I'll properly fasten the flashlight to the Recon Flip-up sight base using a clamp. Just waiting on my 14500 unprotected Li-on's to come in from DX to mod the insides according to SGNerf's guide.

Overall, thanks to the very nice abstract painting Mum made for me,
it's hard to make out the Reflex sight, just look a little closer

One issue with the Reflex sight is mounting it, whilst in the photos it looks to mount nicely, unfortunately the rail mount is a little too wide and as such, is a little loose, however this is better than finding it's too small to fit the rail forcing me to file/cut the rail apart, at this stage I think I might try and put a little glue under the rail and let it set, to "fatten" the rail, I would rather not glue the sight to the rail because I would like the sight to be removable for storage and transport. Ideas on what else I could do?

Other than this small issue, the sight works great, even in the bright sunshine, it's a very sunny and fine day in Sydney today and I took it out *almost* aimed at the sun and I could see the red dot clearly, contrary to the reviews on DX. For ~$30 plus ~$20 shipping if you want it in a couple of days, I highly recommend this sight for Nerf weapons, just as long as you have a bit more ingenuity than I do and can figure out a way to snugly mount the sight so it won't fall off in the heat of battle.

Maybe make a tac rail out of metal so it's perfect fit?

The nerf "tactical rail" is a slightly moddiefied plastic version of a Picatiny rail or "Tactical Rail" if you put the sight on the right segiment it should fit perfectly. I have a red dot sight (ACOG style) that came with my dads R7615 which on sertaint guns (LS, Stampede and eliminator (yes eliminator) fits correctly if it is placed corectly.

You could place strips of e-tape in the grooves on the side of the tac rail if you want a nicer fit. Sure, it's not the neatest solution, but it's less permanent than gluing it.

I can see how the two rails are very similar as it's *ALMOST* a snug fit, just not toight enough and any movement side to side will more than likely result in the sight falling off.

That's a great idea, before I start doing anything too permanent.

I got 2 of these sights a while ago. Unfortunately only one was working. The one that wasnt broken did work really well though and they look pretty sweet.

It turned up much faster than I thought, and it looks great.

I think the e-tape thing works very well. Keeps my scope mounted on my Longshot pretty perfectly.

To those considering such sights, you may also want to consider THIS Red Dot Scope, I say that to make the distinction between this one and my Reflex Sight, since both can in fact be labelled Red Dot Sights. While I haven't personally used the Scope, Akimbo Assasin has one on his AT, I'm sure he'd also recommend it, with that, you now have two endorsed options, along with a few other sights on DX which I'm sure would also be suitable, but there's nothing better than buying something endorsed by a fellow community member.

    Bummer...

I bought myself the MP5-style reflex sight and it is nowhere near capable of fitting on the Nerf tactical rails at all. Not to mention that it arrived a little over a month since buying it... FML...

I also hope you recall I pointed this one out to you on the website when you were considering buying reflex sights.

Nah. I was probably thinking about your housemate lol...

    I don't remember such occasion. I might grab a Picatinny-MP5 adapter rail.
